Sarah Ritchie -
Beardies have been part of my life since 2005, when having always had a penchant for shaggy dogs
and always from rescue organisations, I followed the same path and contacted Southern Beardie Aid
and subsequently Margaret Fletcher to see if there was a chance of a Beardie joining our young
family. Having passed Margaret’s rigorous assessment I was put in touch with Ellen Sullivan and
shortly after Chyna, Navillus Moon Spirit came home. I completely underestimated the impact that
her joining us would have on my life and of that of my family!! Having caught the Beardie Bug
Dillon (Kirstancourt Kiss N Tail) and Crysti (Bridus Between The Sheets with Cheryshd) soon followed
and all three gained their stud book number. Tori, Ch Pattishawl Just The One To Cheryshd JW
became my first champion in 2014, a dream come true!
I have served on the SCBCC committee since 2007 fulfilling the role of membership secretary and
show secretary and have been the Chairman of the club for the last 3 years. I am also a member of
the Joint Breed Liaison Committee, and care passionately about the future of our beloved breed and
believe that we should all work together to share and increase our knowledge to breed healthy, fit
for purpose dogs with that wonderful Beardie character. I have also served on a general canine
society and enjoy stewarding when my schedule allows.
My first judging appointment was in 2009 and I have been fortunate to judge some lovely Beardies
at Open shows throughout the UK. I believe that you never stop learning, and I take every
opportunity to increase my knowledge of conformation and movement through reading, seminars,
and discussion. It is an honour to be asked to judge any show, but to be awarded a Club show is
particularly special.
