Incidence of Hip Dysplasia in Labrador Retrievers and Effects of Limited Food Consumption. Restricted feeding delayed or prevented development of radiographic signs of hip joint osteoarthritis. Lifetime maintenance of 25% diet restriction delayed onset and reduced severity of hip joint osteoarthritis, thus favorably affecting both duration and quality of life.

Penn Hip at University of Pennsylvania. A very good resource for understanding a different measure of evaluating hip integrity. As of March 2012, 56 Beardies have had the Penn-Hip evaluation; the mean laxity index is 0.55. Breed specific statistics are not yet publicly available (Aug 2015).
